Dear____________________________:
Keep Americana County Beautiful is a litter prevention and recycling organization serving
the residents and businesses of Americana County. Since the founding in 1985, the county
has realized a 42% reduction in litter and a 35% increase in recycling. Our public awareness
and education programs have earned the organization four statewide Awards of Excellence from
our parent organization, Keep Texas Beautiful.
Even with the extraordinary work of our volunteers and staff, litter and illegal dumping are
epidemic in Americana County. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent annually to clean
up after careless individuals and those who intentionally discard their waste on public and
private land. We need help stopping littering and illegal dumping and expanding recycling
as a waste reduction option county-wide.
To that end, we are inviting community decision makers to an Americana County Litter/Illegal
Dumping and Recycling Summit. The purpose of the Summit is to identify our littering/illegal
dumping and recycling problems across the county and take the first step in developing a long range
Litter/Illegal Dumping Prevention Plan that will address the problems with realistic solutions.
The Summit is scheduled on August 30, 2002 at the Armadillo Cage, 1600 Wild Boulevard.
The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will adjourn no later than 2:00 p.m. Lunch
will be provided. Free parking is available. Please R.S.V.P. by telephone at
222.222.2222 no later than August 20, 2002 or via email at kacb@perfect.net.
It is imperative that we have total, county-wide representation. You are an essential part
of this meeting, and we are hopeful that you will make yourself available. However, in the
event you are not available, we would appreciate your sending a representative in your place.
It is time for Americana County to take control of this environmental, legal, health, and safety
problem. Please plan to join us on August 30th.
Cordially,
Your name
